About CREATIVE BEING, the Business…

Creative Being (Art & More), like the name suggests, is a small artistic business. Based out of the Yarra Valley. It’s run by me-Anneliese. For the moment I’m putting my focus on producing paintings. They’ll be available as originals, prints and greeting cards. 

Eventually the goal for the business is to expand into a range of media and art forms, alongside paintings and illustrations. Creative Being (Art & More) would exhibit furniture. Made either from reclaimed timber and materials, or saved from going to the tip and refurbished. A sustainable clothing line that would host my own lino-printed designs, and some unique garments created with a bohemian finish, from scraps of fabric that otherwise would be discarded. There’s a few children’s book ideas floating around my imagination. I want to create some designs that would lend themselves to being printed on lush beautiful cushions, or quirky keep cups. I am also passionate about selling vintage, antique, or funky secondhand decor. Oh and, you know, anything else I might wanna put my hand too! Just a few small ambitions… It’s almost like I am quite the creative being. *Ba-dum-tiss* (crickets ring out).

Right now for selling products, I am focusing on artisan markets and online. You’ll be able to see here, or on my socials when new artwork becomes available to purchase. Down the line, I’d love to host the business in a stall or two in places I love frequenting (especially with my mum) like Waverly Antique Bazaar and Market Fair. About CREATIVE BEING, the Artist…

Like I said before, I’m Anneliese! I’m 25, married with one kidleewink under two. We own three pets-Inka and Saffron the cats, and Bella the dog. I’ve spent a couple of years working in hospitality. I completed an apprenticeship in carpentry and all up have worked 5 years in that arena. Yep! You heard it, I’m professionally a female chippie! Side note: to any other girls or women out there dreaming about becoming a tradie but you think you wouldn’t fit it-DO NOT let that stop you! It’s been amazing. If I were given the option to go back in life and have a do-over, I would not change a thing about becoming a carpenter. That’s my snapshot TED talk… Anyway. On top of all this, we’ve been extending and renovating our house-as much as possible doing it ourselves to save costs-for what feels like an eternity now. Started the excavation on our block to extend back in June 2021. Annnnd we’re still going! Sigh.

More about myself; I’m quite the nature geek over here. Like not in knowledge, more like, obsessed with being out amongst it and gardening. I froth going for a walk and getting hyped up about all the colours and textures at my fingertips. The shapes of leaves, the roughness or smoothness of bark, the sound of magpies, all that good stuff. It’s just plain invigorating. In terms of gardening, I’m an amateur, but no less passionate. In my home landscaping, I have lots of plants that showcase deep reds and burgundies, silvery blues, light-warm greens, and dotted with flowers of purple or yellow. Big fan of Aussie natives over here. And GRASSES. Can’t explain it, there’s something about them that has me hooked. Always bringing them home from nurseries. They are my cryptonite.

Another amateur hobby of mine is playing the acoustic guitar. Mainly I practice playing songs for church, as well as songs by my favorite artists like Coldplay, U2, Imagine Dragons and Evanescence. I have a fairly diverse music taste. However if I could only pick one genre to listen to it would be Indie Rock. This feels weird to say about myself but I’ve also got a wicked set of pipes. I’m a confident soprano, though my voice also ranges into mezzo and alto. I will disclaim, that I learnt this from YouTube videos, so I could be wrong in my self-diagnosis. 

I feel like I’ve sufficiently waffled, but if you’re hungry for more, here’s a few last observations of myself. I prefer caramel over chocolate. Bit of a casual tree-climber. I loooove camping! 4WDriving, Fishing and shooting too. Finally, drum roll please…Reading! Hmm, a bit anticlimactic. Oh well.
